Petra Middle Eastern Cuisine began as a bold, heartfelt venture by a passionate family determined to bring authentic Halal Middle Eastern flavors to the Michiana community. What started as the dream of chef Safaa Rizk — who honed her skills running her own restaurant in Amman, Jordan — quickly grew into a beloved local fixture when she and her husband Dawoud chose Mishawaka as their new home. Drawing on generations of culinary tradition, every dish at Petra is prepared with care, bold spices, and the generosity of true homemade cooking — from tender lamb oozi and savory kabsa to perfectly spiced shawarma and freshly made falafel. Everything on the menu is Halal and crafted with flavors rooted in Jordanian and wider Middle Eastern heritage, making anyone who sits down feel like they’ve stepped into a warm family kitchen rather than a typical restaurant.
